Three white poisons you consume ignorantly
Ignorance they say, kills faster than a terminal disease, if a man is
not informed, he will be deformed. There are three white substances
widely consumed ignorantly by people.
These substances are quite enjoyable in consumption but the end result is deleterious to human health.Come with me:
SUGAR:
It is extremely unhealthy as it has uniquely harmful effects on metabolic health.
Sugar is half glucose, half fructose.
When you eat a lot of refined sugar, the liver gets flooded with fructose, and is forced to turn it all into fat.
Large amounts of fructose in sugar can lead to increased accumulation of fat in the belly and even the liver, ultimately resulting to Insulin resistance, major cause of Type 2 Diabetes.
Liquid sugar is even worse in this regard. Liquid calories don’t get “registered” by the brain in the same way as solid calories, so when you drink sugar-sweetened beverages, you end up eating more total calories.
SALT:Many of us are aware that we shouldn’t eat too much salt. To be precise, adults should avoid eating over 6g (or around about a teaspoon of salt) a day.
The World Health Organisation (WHO), however, estimates that the current global average intake of salt is between 9g and 12g per day. This seems significantly higher than recommended.
What exactly is salt?
Salt is in fact sodium chloride and is a necessary mineral for a healthy human body. However, salts should be eliminated from diets because we get sufficient salts from the variety of food we consume.
Studies have shown that when we consume excess salt, our body retains water in order to hold the salt’s suspension thereby increasing weight, also diseases like High blood pressure and obesity linked to excess salt intake both lead to the development of cardiovascular disease, stroke, heart attacks and heart failure, which are the commonest causes of death in Africa today.
Bread and breakfast cereals for instance, do not taste salty but can make significant contribution to our salt intake because many of us eat plenty of them on a daily basis.
WHITE FLOUR. White flour creates obesity with blood sugar disorders. The more refined foods a person eats, the more insulin must be produced. Insulin promotes the storage of fat, which can lead to heart disease.
Over time, the pancreas gets so overworked that insulin production grinds to a halt, and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or diabetes sets in.
White flour increase blood sugar, and even a modest increase in blood sugar generates pro-inflammatory chemicals. Most people eat these poisons daily in the form of bread, pasta, breakfast cereal, cookies, cakes, soft drinks, candy, condiments etc.
Many of the diseases that we think of as part of aging are actually caused by this process. Depending on the individual, the result can be arthritis, heart disease, cataracts, memory loss,Diabetes and many more.
Lastly White flour is Acidic. Many people eat an acidic diet caused by too much salt, sugar, white flour, dairy, meat and cola drinks.
