Police arrest alleged rapist, armed robbers in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command on
Friday arrested a 24-year-old man alleged to have committed rape and 10
suspected armed robbers in the state.
Parading the suspects at the state
Police Command in Lafia, the state capital, the Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Lawal Shehu, said Arigwu Stephen, 24, was arrested for allegedly
raping a girl, Blessing Amos, in Yar-kede village, Keffi Local
Government Area.
Narrating his daughter’s ordeal to our
correspondent in Lafia, the father of the victim, Mr. Amos Embubushiki,
said that in November 2015, his daughter complained of stomach pain and
was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, where doctors diagnosed
her and discovered that she had been raped over two years before.
“I got to know that my daughter was raped over two years ago after the doctor’s report,” he said.
According to the police boss, the
command on July 7, 2016 also arrested a man suspected to have kidnapped a
Chinese mining expatriate, Mr. Pan Yuhu, and killed a police corporal
attached to him.
He added that the suspected kidnapper killed the police officer and made away with his AK-47 rifle with 30 rounds ammunition.
Since the incident, he said the police
commenced investigation into the matter which eventually led to the
kidnapper’s arrest in the Toto Local Government Area of the state.
